Just did my speaker upgrade and pretty happy with the outcome without breaking the bank.ġ. Good to know if I ever want to do a rewire.Ģ018 Nissan Titan SV with NAV HU and original cheap stock speakers (MAX 40 watts), NO Rockford Fosgate system. BTW, I shined a light into the hole where the factory dash speaker was, I could see light below on my floorboard. The picture of the Polk had to be taken from outside the windshield, so there is some reflection glare. Then I angled the tweeter slightly toward the occupant. The tweeter has mounting option to use screw in the bottom of the speaker mount and bolt to the universal strap bracket. I bent the bracket so the holes would align with the mounting holes in the dash. This is stiffer than the plumbing strap from the hardware store. I installed the Polk Audio tweeters using universal radio strap bracket with holes. I did put in a Kicker Hideaway subwoofer under the rear seat. I do know the rear door speakers were 2 ohm, 40 watt max, 20 watt nominal. Anyway, it sounds very good, other than the weak Nissan head unit driving the aftermarket speakers. But it now has 4ohm tweeter and 4 ohm coaxial, in parallel, bringing load to 2 ohms, I guess. The guy at Best Buy destroyed it to use the factory plastic mount for new 6x9 Alpine. I don't know what the factory door speaker ohm rating was. I replaced it with a Polk Audio tweeter, 4 ohm. It is 4 ohm, 40 watt max, 20 watt nominal. I removed the dash speaker from my 2017 Titan SV King Cab. I don't want to blow the glass off the truck. ![]() Should I just say, replace HU with a CARplay system along with subwoofer? Then I don't have to worry about ohms.īTW, I'm 62 years old. Should I just see how it sounds after subwoofer installed? He hasn't got back to me on cost yet. I could get a carplay system and use my iPhone for navigation. I know there is a harness kit that allows using OE camera and voltage. The factory radio has navigation and backup camera. I'm wondering if the door speakers should be put back to 2-ohm speakers, or replace the head unit too. He said to leave the Alpines in since I already paid for them. and he recommends a subwoofer and Kenwood amp (1000 watts), and a line converter. They didn't change out the dash speakers. Best Buy put in SPE-series Alpines in doors, 4-ohms. ![]() I purchased my 2017 Titan SV King on Black Friday weekend. Without that you're EQ is at best luck and guessing. If you still need more volume then the best is a external amp, with some powerful EQ capability either in a new head unit, or a sound processor like the Rockford 3sixty.3. so a powered sub will fill in a frequency range that directly affects your perception of loudness, without changing the factory EQ in the mid-band. But that replacement opens up a whole, heated discussion on audio quality.Īssuming you have a base grade audio 6 speaker system, then a powered sub is a great option. So if your problem is it's not loud enough, then going to 4 ohms is definitely going the wrong way.īut there are 2ohm aftermarket speakers available. so for a given song at a given volume setting, a speaker with impedance of 4ohms has (approximately) half the current and so half the power applied, compared to a 2 ohm speaker (going to 2 ohms is a easy way for OEMs to get more volume for less cost than changing the output IC) Voltage out of the IC is based on source material and gain. There's a whole lot that goes into that discussion.
